Photos of by renowned Dutch photographer Kees Scherer, who was one of the Netherlands' most popular and respected photographers. This distinctive photobook looks at early 1960s New York City with European eyes and fully conveys Scherer's fascination with the dynamics of light. With text in English by Dutch journalist Max Tak, featuring 121 captioned b/w photographs. Preceded by a 1960 Dutch edition.

It focuses on homes and commercial buildings, and is organized around the most common styles of the period - Italianate, Second Empire, and Gothic Revival. It's the best visual record of Victorian architecture that I have seen.
