Marion Dorn (1896-1964) worked in several areas of design over a forty-year career, mostly in Britain but also in her native U.S. Best known as a textile designer, Dorn was responsible for the rug in Syrie Maugham's famous 'White Room". From about 1922 to 1962 she designed batiks, block- and screen-printed fabrics, woven fabrics, London Underground upholstery cloths, wallpapers, graphics, illustrations, furniture and complete interiors. This catalogue was produced to coincide with "The Architect of Floors" exhibition held at the RIBA Heinz Gallery, London, 1996-1997. Scarce.

Quarto. 95-pp text volume, 53 tipped-in color plates contained in folding envelope with title printed on front, all enclosed in a folding portfolio and printed box. Text in Japanese & English. G+/VG- Paper overwrap is torn at the spine, text volume has some tearing at crown, plate wrapper has tearing at the folds. Portfolio boards are a little dingy and have some staining at edges. Slipcase splitting with 1.5- inch loss at top of spine. One plate detached and remounted with clumsy tape repair, also one plate detached but present. Complete.
